History

How It All Started - End 2001, DCF was initiated by three friends who felt the need to share their faith, energy, experiences, skills, knowledge and opportunities with children and families living in difficult circumstances. Helma van der Hoeven, Nicoline van Egmond and Simon Koert believed this would not only enrich the life of those people in need, but also the lives of themselves.

The first DCF projects were set up in Nepal; later on projects in Ecuador were started. In the course of time, the foundation was subject to changes: new people got involved and projects got to focus not only on children but also on their families.
In April 2009 Alex Vukajlovich and Ine Martens joined the foundation’s Board when Simon Koert stepped down due to personal reasons. At that same moment, DCF decided to focus exclusively on the two Child ‘N Family centers; one in Ecuador and one in Nepal. In October 2015 Barbara van der Heiden joined the DCF Board as fifth active member.
