Aaron Goss Ecuador Fund - Thank You!

Main Sponsor CNF Ecuador - In the summer of 2006, British students from Wollaston School volunteered to assist in our project in Ambato. They not only did construction work, but also gathered quite considerable sponsor money. After their volunteer work, they continued their educational expedition and went to the jungle. A terrible tragedy then occurred… One of the students, Aaron Goss drowned in the river Anzu; he had turned 17 the week before.

The grief of his fellow-students, teachers, expedition leaders and most of all his family, was immense. We met Aaron’s mother and brother in Ecuador, which was the start of a unique and emotional link between Aaron’s family and us. Aaron’s family decided to start a foundation, the Aaron Goss Ecuador Fund, in the remembrance of their son. Part of the benefits of this fund are for the DCF project in Ambato. Through the fund, his family wants Aaron’s life to help improve that of others for many years to come. It is a way to turn the tragedy into something good and hopeful.

Over the last years, the Aaron Goss Ecuador Fund has contributed regularly to our project in Ambato. Amongst others, they sponsored the furniture of our main building in Ambato, Casa Aaron. Also, Aaron’s aunt Sarah started another stream to the fund, called Aaron’s Bright Light Fund. Sarah is a teacher at St Luke’s Church of England school in Dorset, and organizes fund raising days to support the children of Ambato. Furthermore, she gets support from a Christian study group, the St. Mary Ladies Home Group in Rushden, that includes Aaron’s grandmother.

We are most thankful to Aaron’s family for their special support to our foundation.
