As you can see in our financial overview, in 2008 the income and expenses of the Daniëlle Children’s Fund were significantly lower than in 2007.

Expenses
Our total expenses in 2008 were Euro 55.478,-. A decrease of 51% with respect to 2007.

Ecuador: The decrease primarily occurred in Ecuador, where we spent Euro 46.200,-. A decrease of 55% compared to 2007 (Euro 103.040,-). Reason is that we, because of the severe problems we encountered with Clarita Luz, terminated our financial support for this project as of April 2008. In the first quarter of the year though, the costs had been quite high (USD 21.125,-) because of the finalization of the reconstruction of the main building Casa Aaron (USD 6.740,-), the purchase of a bus (USD 26.950,-) and the operational costs. But in the last nine months of 2008, the expenses were nil. The other part of the total amount for Ecuador was spent on the Family Support Program and on an educational project in Chugchilán for which our sponsor KWH donated Euro 6.050,- in the year 2008.
Nepal: In Nepal Euro 9.278,- was spent on the Educational Support Program and the Daniëlle Children’s House, including the vocational training. The costs were somewhat lower than the previous year (Euro 11.113,-), mostly due to better exchange rates.

Income
Due to the termination of the financial support for the project Clarita Luz in Ambato, our income has also significantly decreased in 2008. Reason is that our main sponsors, as a reaction to our communication and in consultation with DCF, decided to hold their donations until we would re-start the project in Ambato. In 2008 we received a total of Euro 50.648,- in donations; in 2007 it was Euro 118.309,-.
The moment we are writing this, July 2009, we can inform you that we have continued the project on the same location but under a new name, the Child ‘N Family center. Our main sponsors have resumed their donations.

Costs
The total costs in 2008 were Euro 456,-, which means a decrease of 32% in relation to 2007 (Euro 669,-). Also for the year 2008, the Board of DCF compensated the costs in the form of a donation. This means that, as always, all expenses went directly to the projects.

Currency Result
The currency result in 2008 was positive and amounted to Euro 478,-.

General Reserves
Our general reserves totaled Euro 79.748,- at the end of the year. Rather high, but necessary because of the start of two projects in 2009: the Child ‘N Family center in Ambato, Ecuador and one in Kathmandu, Nepal.
