The Story of Diego
15-07-2009 - End of January 2009 we met Diego, a boy of 8 years old who was diagnosed with leukemia. Diego lives in Quito with his family: an elder brother, his mum and dad. His father has also severe health issues and the medical costs are a major source of worry for the mother. She is really working very hard, but they are unable to pay all the expensive treatments. That is why DCF admitted Diego in our fund. We paid part of his hospital bill. Furthermore we give the family a monthly contribution to buy the ingredients for Diego’s special diet.
Diego wrote the following note to thank those who are supporting him:
Dear all,
My main whishes are: to be healthy, to get over my disease, that my father gets better too and that the whole family is healthy. I ask God to bless my family and all other families and that we have enough to eat. I would like to be a mechanic when I am older, to fix cars. Just like my brother Ruben. I am crazy about cars.
I want to say that I like you very much and I am very thankful for what you do; I realize that a lot of people care about me, although they do not even know me personally. I really want to share this happy feeling with you and other children. Thank you Father God.
