| The Story of Sunita Sunita has an orthopedic brace on her left leg, as she suffered polio when she was three years old. She comes from Banepa, where the children's hospital is situated and she got the chance to be treated there. Sunita has three brothers and two sisters and her family hardly has any money. Fortunately, her father gave her the opportunity to go to school for a few years. Knowing how to read and write, coming from a poor background and being disabled, meant she met all the criteria to enter our vocational training. Soon it appeared that Sunita did not only have talent for cutting and sewing, but that she is also very business minded. After a successful closure of her training, she went back home and made a plan to start her own shop. Together with two friends, she managed to get a loan and started renting a room and bought the necessary basic materials. That is how they set up a combination of tailoring shop and beauty center, which after a few years is running quite well now. |
